BBC Good Food
This is one of the UK’s largest food websites. It provides a huge selection of recipes (with easy search functionality), seasonal food information, “how to cook” videos and guides, as well as a comprehensive wine section and details of their competitions and magazines. There is also a members’ area for saving and sharing recipes. If you like what you see you can add yourself to their newsletter.
Cake Baker
This one gets a special mention as I love the Carrot Cake recipe I found here and my friends rave about it when I make it. It’s a site dedicated to all things baking with a large selecion of recipes, some video’s on cake decorating plus there is areas for special diets and storing and serving tips. Well worth a look and a bookmark.
Channel 4 Food
The UK’s Channel 4 Food website is a comprehensive site that will not only keep you up to date with what is coming up on TV, it also has a large recipe and cooking video’s section, features articles, ‘how to’ information, practical cooking tips, a cooking converter and ‘grow your own’ areas. There is also a blog, rate your plate where you can upload your own food photo’s, competitions and quizzes plus a wine club.
Good Food Channel
UKTV Good Food Channel website has over 11,000 recipes, lots of cooking video’s, sections on ‘how to’, celebrity chefs, in season and a local UK food directory. You can also find out what is on TV in the UK, information about Good Food events and subscribe to the magazine.
Hairy Bikers
The Hairy Bikers new TV series in the UK is called the Hairy Bakers and is aimed at inspiring us to bake again, the website contains the recipes they make and lots of information about their shows, books, video’s & DVD’s.
Jamie Oliver
We all know Jamie Oliver and the recipe section on his website is no dissapointment with lots of categories, a seasonal calender, browse by ingredient, videos and a members area called foodwise share information, upload recipes and articles and you can even edit other peoples articles too.
My Dish
As seen on the UK version of Dragons Den, this site is based on the concept of storing your recipes, sharing them with others and telling your story about them. There are lots of sections to search through and you can join a group, rate recipes, add tips and create your own personalised cookbook then even have it printed as a keepsake or gift.
Nigella
The goddess of the kitchen has a website with her recipes and also ones posted by the public so you can contribute to the growing archive if you want. It also has a section on kitchen wisdom, a food forum, club room and one called Nigella loves where she tells us about her latest favourite product.
Sainsbury's Online
The popular British grocery chain has a large recipe database along with recipe ideas but the best function is that you can order the groceries directly from the recipes. They also have a great magazine that is worth getting and you can buy everything from wine, kitchenwares to appliances online as well.
